Conseguí algunos remixes después de que tuviéramos que tratar con ellos en nuestro trabajo. Antes de eso escuché la música en la radio y no me pregunté si una canción era una pista original o un cover. Hace muchos años, cuando nuestras canciones casi no sonaban, visitamos un club y oímos un remix de Ya Soshla S Uma, que nos sorprendió mucho. En ese momento me di cuenta que cualquier canción puede cambiar con el remix correcto.

El remix es un producto secundario y es raramente interesante como la canción original. Una canción remezclada suena mucho más brillante y más interesante cuando ha sido remezclada por un DJ que tiene ya su propio estilo y que puede hacer esta canción remezclada un producto autosuficiente de la música. Pero si un artista oye un buen remix, ya esta hecho, el remix tiene todas las oportunidades de aparecer en el álbum. Es bueno que ahora hay muchos adaptadores y músicos dotados en este campo en Rusia. Lo más importante para nosotros es el resultado, y no nos importa de donde viene el profesional.

Quién necesita remixes

Cualquier canción puede ser remezclada - toda depende de tu deseo. Pero todavía hay canciones y artistas que son autosuficientes y no necesitan remixes. El último es cierto acerca de bandas reales de rock. ¿Por qué remezclar las canciones de “Chaif” o de “Kino” (bandas de rock rusas - blog.tatu.ru)? Se han hecho muchos remixes en canciones de t.A.T.u. Varios millares de profesionales y fans-remixes existen. Incluso tenemos un álbum de remixes - es algo necesario en el presente y en la colección de una banda.

Miracle of Song's Rebirth

I got serious about remixes after we had to deal with them in our work. Before that I just listened to the music on the radio and didn't question myself if a song was an original track or a cover version. Many years ago, when our songs were not played a lot, we visited some club and heard a remix on Ya Soshla S Uma, which surprised us very much. That moment I realized that any song can be given a second wind with the right remixing.

Copy or Original

Remix is a secondary product and it is rarely as interesting as the original song. A remixed song sounds much brighter and more interesting when it's remixed by a DJ who already has his or her own style and who's able to make this remixed song a self-sufficient music product. For example, the new version of Ludi-Invalidi song made by Vanya Kilar is great work and is perceived as something new. I used to play this remix in my car for quite a while.

About Demand and Different Offers

Usually we work with DJ's through a record label that gets remixes from Russian and foreign professionals. DJ must fix all copyright issues and copyright usually belongs to a record label. But if an artist hears a cool remix that is already done, the remix has all chances to appear on the album. It's cool that there are many gifted arrangers and musicians in this field in Russia now. The important thing for us is the result, and we don't care where this professional comes from.

Who Needs Remixes

Actually any song can be remixed - it all depends on your wish. But still there're songs and artists that are self-sufficient and don't need remixes. The latter is true about real rock bands. Why remix "Chaif" or "Kino" songs (Russian rock bands - blog.tatu.ru)? Many remixes on t.A.T.u. songs have been made. Several thousands of professional and fan-remixes exist. We even have an album of remixes - it's a necessary thing in today's music band's collection.

What is the future of the popular pseudo-lesbo-duo?

Alla Pugachova (Russian pop music legend – tatu.ru) herself said that contrary to the singers of her generation, today’s female artists do not have to build a lasting music career. In pop music industry they are targeted at quick success and at getting maximum profit out of it. The best “profit” is, apparently, is to have a successful marriage: to fish out a young (or, maybe, not young) oligarch or (if the worst comes to the worst) some businessman, sportsman or perspective guy working for the government, producer etc. After getting married such female artists try to increase the number of their high-profile acquaintances and friends, get deep into beau-monde and embrace this dolce vita. The examples are uncountable: from English “spicy girls” Victoria Adams and Melanie Brown to our Russian Yulia Nachalova, Olga Orlova, Natasha Ionova and other. But these are standard pop persons. They’re not trying to shake foundations, to provoke or to demonstrate their self-sufficiency on stage – and they have never tried.

Or they've never succeeded in it. At some point they painlessly drop out of charts and switch to private lives and other entertaining things.

But t.A.T.u. seems to be a different case. At the beginning of the millennium Lena and Julia hugged each other ambiguously (even though it could be creative will of their producer-psychiatrist Ivan Shapovalov) and felt that “they’re not gonna get us”. They easily occupied, changed and widened the niche that one decade ago before them another girls duo – “Politsiya Nravov” (“Vise Squad”) - tried to occupy in our newborn show business.

Do you remember shaven-headed Frida and her companion named Angel? Or do you recall Frida and Gina? No? Difficult to recall?... Of course, the times were different and, well, “Politsiya Nravov” didn’t achieve much. But t.A.T.u. have smash-hits, success both in the West and the developed East (Japan, South Korea), plenty of zest; the power of their brand is still there.

However, they are getting close to t.A.T.u. and, if you wish, taking over t.A.T.u. Former t.A.T.u. provocative image became clichй and even at times a parody. When mother-to-be (soon a mother for the second time) Yulia Volkova holds a hand of her almost 23-year-old girlfriend Lena Katina like it is school and when together... they are forcing 7-year-old teenage vulnerability, idealism, dreaminess and boldness out of themselves, it looks (to put it mildly) strange. All these emo-rockers and nu-metal lovers, who have emerged lately, seem more provoking and natural.

But it is clear that t.A.T.u. do not plan to leave the current music process just like that. Compared to the rest of pop-dolls they do demonstrate artistic ambitions. Hence - foreign band, live gigs, again-controversial title of the upcoming album – Waste Management.

But fundamentally new image for the pseudo-lesbo-duo has not been invented yet. Naughty deputy Mitrofanov, who treats the duo with fatherly attitude, won’t help t.A.T.u. Lena and Julia will have to find their remarkable future themselves and, probably, really find out the meaning expressed in their song title “Nichya” (translated as “nobody’s” – tatu.ru).

Having parted with their godfather Shapovalov, with major label Universal, with concert director that worked with them lately, t.A.T.u. girls are (looks like) enjoying their independence. They have two ways now, I think: take true advantage of their freedom and to surprise us – or to part. It’s possible that after pursuing solo career the girls won’t get lost. But then t.A.T.u.’s destiny won’t be much different from destinies of other, much more mediocre, girl-bands.

Cuál es el futuro del popular duo- pseudo- lesbo?

Los ejemplos son innumerables: del inglés "chicas picantes" Victoria Adams y Melanie Brown a nuestras rusas Yulia Nachalova, Olga Orlova, Natasha Ionova y otras. Pero éstas son estándares personas del pop. Ellas no están tratando de hacer temblar a las fundaciones, ni provocar o demostrar su auto-suficiencia en el escenario - y ellas nunca lo han tratado.

O ellos nunca han tenido éxito en eso. En algún punto ellas sin dolor alguno se retiraron de los charts y cambiaron a tener vidas privadas y algunas otras cosas de entretenimiento.

Pero t.A.T.u. parece ser un caso diferente. Al principio del milenio Lena y Julia se abrazaban mutuamente ambiguamente (incluso se pensó que podía haber sido creatividad del productor - el psicólogo Ivan Shapovalov) y sentían esto "they're not gonna get us". Ellas sencillamente ocuparon, cambiaron y modificaron el hueco que una década atrás antes de ellas, otro dúo de chicas - “Politsiya Nravov” (“Vise Squad”) - trataron de ocupar en nuestro "recién nacido" el show del negocio.

Pero fundamentalmente la nueva imágen para el duo - pseudo - lesbo no ha sido inventada aún. El travieso deputado Mitrofanov, quien trata al dúo con una actitud paternal, no ayudará a que t.A.T.u. Я не имею никаких претензий к авторским оценкам песен и вокала певиц. Это личное мнение Бирюкова, и он имеет полное право его выразить. Но журналист не имеет права врать, вводя читателей в заблуждение.

1. Это был не настоящий концерт, а концерт-съемки фильма. Вход был свободным, а приглашены только фанаты. Пришли 500 человек. Я бы хотел посмотреть, кто из артистов соберет 500 человек при помощи объявления, вывешенного лишь на одном сайте за 4 дня до мероприятия...

2. Выступление было в клубном формате, соответственно коротким - 50 минут, как и было обещано.

3. Для съемки кино требовалось только три новых трека, поэтому все остальное было исполнено исключительно в знак благодарности пришедшим зрителям.

4. Фильм Finding t.A.T.u. не документальный, а художественный. Это известно даже свиньям с мясокомбината в Ярославле, но не известно журналисту Бирюкову, хотя он и взялся писать на эту тему.

5. Я бы хотел услышать, кто объяснял Бирюкову, что лента задумана для опровержения слухов... Полная туфта.

6. Сценарий писали два голливудских сценариста и один русский продюсер, а не А.Митрофанов. Сценарий лишь основан на идее книги Митрофанова и очень отличается от книги.

7. Юля сейчас на пятом месяце беременности, а не на седьмом.

8. Никто никаких нот ни за кого не вытягивал. Новые треки были сыграны под фонограмму, о чем было специально объявлено заранее. Все остальное спето вживую.

Скажу от себя. Качество и энергетика на концерте были офигительными, это слышали и чувствовали все кроме вас, товарищ музыкальный обозреватель Бирюков. Если вам не нравится t.A.T.u., это не страшно. Нет ни одной вещи в природе, которая нравится всем. Но когда вы идете на выступление как журналист, засуньте в жопу свою субъективность в описании фактов, а если не можете - переквалифицируйтесь в управдомы.
